# Trend Discovery

> Find timely topics for your show from your RSS feeds and on-demand searches, then turn a trend alert into an idea, script, post or campaign.

Trend Discovery helps you spot topics worth talking about while they are still fresh, and turn them into content. In Convia Pro it lives under **In Motion → Trend Monitor** in the launcher, which has two pages: **Trend Monitor**, where trends arrive as alerts you act on, and **Feed Manager**, where you choose the RSS feeds Convia reads for you.

Trend Monitor and Feed Manager are part of Trend Rider, which is plan-gated. If **Trend Monitor** is missing from the launcher, or the page says Trend Rider isn't enabled, your plan does not include it. See [Plans and billing](https://docs.conviapro.com/docs/plans-and-billing.md).

## How Trend Discovery finds trends

Trends reach Trend Monitor in two ways.

|---|---|---|
| **Your RSS feeds** | Once a day, Convia reads the active feeds in Feed Manager, picks out topics relevant to your brand, and leaves them as trend alerts, each with a suggested campaign | The daily run is free. **Refresh from RSS** checks your feeds straight away for 10 credits |
| **Discover Trends** | You enter up to 5 topics and Convia searches recent sources for what is trending on them, using your brand settings and recent episodes to judge relevance. Each search saves its results as alerts | 15 credits for 1 topic, 25 for 2 to 3 topics, 35 for 4 to 5 topics |

Trends from your feeds come from the feeds you follow, not from the whole web. Choose feeds that cover your industry, and the alerts follow.

## Set up your feeds in Feed Manager

1. Go to **In Motion → Trend Monitor → Feed Manager**.
2. Click **Add Feed**, or add one from the suggested feeds, grouped by topic such as Podcasting Industry or Marketing & Business.
3. Enter a **Source name** and the feed's URL, then click **Test** to check that the feed is valid.
4. Optionally add **Keywords**. When a feed has keywords, only items that mention one of them are considered.
5. Click **Add Feed**. The feed appears under **Active Feeds**.

The feed list shows each feed's status (**Healthy**, **Warning** or **Error**), its keywords, an **Active** switch and when it was **Last Checked**. Switch a feed off to stop reading it without deleting it.

## Discover trends on demand

1. Go to **In Motion → Trend Monitor** and click **Discover Trends**.
2. Type a topic or keyword into **Add Topic or Keyword**, for example "podcast growth", and add it. Add up to 5 topics. Suggestions appear under **Your Topics** and **From Recent Episodes**; click one to add it.
3. Check the cost shown for the number of topics, then start the search.
4. When it finishes, the new trends appear as alerts on the **Active Alerts** tab.

If you run out of credits on the Trends pages, Convia offers to buy more or upgrade.

## Read a trend alert

Each alert on the **Active Alerts** tab shows:

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Topic | What is trending |
| Type | **Opportunity**, **Competitive** or **Informational** |
| Urgency | **High Urgency**, **Medium Urgency** or **Low Urgency**: how quickly you should act |
| Source | Where the trend was found |
| **AI Campaign Brief** | A suggested campaign: a **Suggested Name**, a **Description** and **Keywords** |
| **Matching Content** | Your episodes that relate to the trend, when there are any |
| Relevance | How relevant the trend is to your brand, as a percentage, based on your brand settings |
| Search Volume, Related Content | Shown when available. Related Content counts the content you have already made from the trend |

Use the filters above the tabs to narrow alerts by **Urgency**, **Source** and **Min Relevance**. A **Live** marker beside the page title means there are active alerts.

## Act on a trend alert

Click **Create Campaign** on an alert, or open its menu for the other actions.

| **Quick Idea (Basic)** | Saves the trend as an idea to develop later, with the trend's details in its notes | Free |
| **Create Idea (AI)** | A full idea with a title, a description of angles to take, research notes, suggested tags and a priority | 10 |
| **Create Script (AI)** | A production-ready script. Pick a **Script Type**: **Video Script**, **Podcast Episode**, **Short-Form Video** or **Presentation/Webinar** | 15 |
| **Create Campaign** | Opens the campaign builder with the trend loaded, to build a full campaign from it | Depends on what you generate |
| **Dismiss** | Moves the alert to the **Dismissed** tab and asks for a reason | Free |

Ideas and scripts made from a trend link back to it and appear under **In Motion → Ideas** and **In Motion → Scripts**. Everything the AI options create lands as a draft you review before anything is scheduled.

> Use **Quick Idea (Basic)** to park a trend you want to explore later. It costs nothing, and you can generate a script or post from the idea when you are ready.

## Browse trending topics

The **Trending Topics** tab shows every topic Convia has found, from the last 14 days by default. Turn on **Show expired** to see older ones. Sort by **Relevance**, **Newest** or **Oldest**, and click a source chip to filter.

Open a topic card to see its relevance, search volume, related content and a **View Source** link, plus **Quick Actions**:

- **Create Idea** saves the topic as an idea, free.
- **Create Script** writes a script with AI, at the script cost above.
- **Create Post** creates a draft post on the platform you pick, starting from the topic's text, and opens your posts. It does not use AI.

## Restore a dismissed alert

Dismissed alerts and topics move to the **Dismissed** tab, with the reason you gave. Click **Restore** to bring one back.

## Draft posts from trends automatically
