Campaigns

Group posts around an episode, a launch, a trend or an idea, plan the story beat by beat, and manage every campaign post and date from one page.

A campaign in Convia Pro coordinates several posts across platforms over a set period, around an episode, a guest, a trend, an event or an idea. Use one when a single post is not enough, such as an episode release or a product launch. Open Campaigns from the top of the launcher, or from the sidebar on your Dashboard.

What a campaign is

A campaign is a story told across several platforms over a period of time. Instead of writing posts one by one, you decide what the campaign is saying, and each post becomes one beat of it.

Each campaign has:

  • A name, a Campaign Brief and optional Related Keywords
  • A campaign type (see Campaign types)
  • Platforms, a start and end date, and a Posting Frequency
  • An optional linked episode
  • Its posts, each with its own status, platform and date

A campaign does not need an episode. It can be built around one, or from your whole library, a set of topics, or nothing more than what you want to say. If your library is empty you can still plan the campaign, and the plan tells you what to make.

Campaign posts are ordinary posts. They go through the same approval and publishing steps as any other post, and a campaign never publishes anything on its own. A post can belong to an episode and a campaign at the same time.

Campaigns are visible to your workspace members only. Clients in the Client Portal see the episodes and posts you share, not the campaigns behind them.

Campaign types

The campaign type sets the suggested length, how often to post, and how posts are paced across the window. When Convia plans the campaign for you, the type also shapes the story. The setup step shows these values under What does this mean for your campaign?

Type in the app Also called Suggested duration Posting frequency Pacing
Promote a Specific Idea Idea Promotion 21 days Weekly Steady: posts spread evenly
Capitalize on a Trend Trend Response 7 days Daily Front-loaded: half the posts in the first third, then tapering
Seasonal/Recurring Theme Seasonal/Event 14 days 2x per week Event-centered: about 40% before the event, 20% around it, 40% after
Guest/Partnership Spotlight Guest Spotlight 10 days 3x per week Release-centered: about 30% teasers, 20% on release day, 50% follow-up

A campaign created from a trend alert is locked to Capitalize on a Trend, and its length and frequency come from how urgent the trend is:

Trend urgency Duration Frequency
High 5 days Daily
Medium 10 days 3x per week
Low 14 days 2x per week

The Posting Frequency options are Daily, 3x per week, 2x per week, Weekly and Bi-weekly. You can change the dates and frequency for any type.

Where campaigns start

Start from What happens
Campaigns → New Campaign Opens the campaign builder, described below
An episode's Social Content page → Create Campaign Opens the builder with that episode linked
An episode's Social Content page → Magic Campaign Convia plans and writes a campaign from the episode. See Magic Campaign
An episode's Social Content page → Schedule clips Turns the episode's clips into scheduled posts and lists the campaign it creates on that page. See Calendar & scheduling
A trend alert in Trend Monitor → Create Campaign Opens the builder as a trend campaign, with keywords from the trend. See Trend discovery
An idea on the Ideas page Starts a campaign seeded from the idea, and lists it under the idea's content. See Ideas & scripts
Magic Repurpose Plans a campaign as part of repurposing an episode
An AI assistant connected through MCP Can create a campaign and all its posts from a plan it writes. Everything lands as a draft, and it needs Magic Campaign on your plan. See MCP tools

Create a campaign in the builder

The campaign builder has four steps: setup, content or story, schedule, and review.

  1. Open Campaigns from the top of the launcher and click New Campaign.
  2. Under What kind of campaign?, pick a type.
  3. Enter a Campaign Name, and fill in the Campaign Brief, Related Keywords, Posting Frequency, Primary Platforms and, if it applies, Linked Episode (Optional).
  4. Under How do you want to build it?, choose Build the story for me (the default for a new campaign) or I will pick the content myself.
  5. Set the Start Date and End Date. They are required to build a story, because the plan is laid out across the window. The start date cannot be earlier than today in your workspace time zone.
  6. Click Next and work through the story or content step, then Schedule, then review.
  7. Finish with the button on the last step. The builder closes and the campaign appears in your campaigns list.

If Next is greyed out, the reason is shown beside it, for example when the workspace has no connected channel to pick.

Build the story for me

Convia works out what the campaign should say, beat by beat, over the dates you set. Describe what the campaign is for under What are you trying to accomplish? and the plan uses it.

You get an arc split by platform, where each beat says what it needs and when. Each beat is checked against your library:

What you see What it means
The beat names a clip, post or article You already have what this beat needs
The beat is flagged You do not have it yet. It stays in the plan and says what to make

If every beat is flagged, nothing has gone wrong. That is normal in a new workspace, and the arc tells you what to make and in what order.

Planning and re-planning are free. Two controls shape the plan:

  • Pin this beat keeps a beat. Pinned beats come back word for word when you re-plan, with anything attached to them.
  • Type what you want changed in the box at the bottom, in plain language, then re-plan. For example: "Too LinkedIn-heavy. More contrarian, less teaching."

Once you pin something, the plan is saved as you go, so closing the tab does not lose it. It stays out of your campaigns list until you generate or save it.

On the last step you have two choices:

  • Generate posts writes the posts, for the credit cost shown on the button. Above it, Convia says how many posts it will write, across how many platforms, and how many are waiting on an asset you have not made yet. The posts go to the approval queue for review.
  • Save plan only saves the arc onto the campaign with no posts and no charge. The campaign is kept as a draft.

If you are short of credits, the step says so with a Get credits link, and you can still save the plan for free.

Building the story is part of Magic Campaign. If your plan does not include it, the option shows an add-on offer and the builder uses I will pick the content myself instead.

I will pick the content myself

Search your existing clips, posts and articles, choose what goes in, and schedule each piece on the Schedule step. Nothing is generated and nothing is charged, and the campaign itself does not need a start or end date. Finish with Launch Campaign or Save as Draft.

The campaign page

Open any campaign from the Campaigns page, where you can search, filter by status and type, and switch between grid and table views. The campaign page has:

  • Campaign Details: the description, duration, frequency, keywords, platforms and linked episode.
  • Campaign Posts: every post on the campaign with its status and platform. Use New Post to add one (a title and platform, and optionally a clip and description), Link Existing to add posts you already wrote, and View in Calendar to see them on the main Calendar. Unlinking a post removes it from the campaign and leaves the post itself as it was.
  • Calendar: drag a post to reschedule it, in your workspace time zone. Month view keeps the post's time and changes the day, and the day and week views focus on your posting window. Open full calendar opens the main Calendar focused on this campaign.
  • Generate posts: shown on a campaign that has a plan and no posts, with its credit cost. Use it to finish a plan you saved, or to retry one where generation failed. The plan stays on the campaign either way.

A post still waiting on its visual shows a Held · needs asset chip, and the flag beside its title names the brief. When any posts are held, a banner says how many need a clip before they can publish, with a Create clips shortcut.

Uploaded YouTube posts carry a Studio link. On a YouTube channel in the preview, dragging a Short that is waiting to go public changes its time on YouTube too. See YouTube publishing.

To see how a campaign performed, use By Campaign on Analytics.

Shift or spread a campaign's posts

Open full calendar on a campaign page opens the main Calendar in focus mode. A banner names the campaign, how many posts it has and how many can be rescheduled. Other posts stay visible but dimmed, and cannot be dragged.

The banner's tools act on every post in the campaign, not only the ones on screen:

  • Spread evenly spreads the posts evenly across the campaign's dates, then puts each one at its platform's best posting time. It asks you to confirm first.
  • Snap to best times keeps each post's day and moves only its time to the platform's best posting time.
  • Shift with -7d, -1d, +1d or +7d moves every post by whole days and keeps each post's time of day.

Published posts never move, and posts with no date are skipped. No tool puts a post on a time that has passed: if any post would land in the past, nothing moves and Convia tells you how many would have. When the campaign's dates are already over, Convia suggests changing the end date or using Shift. After each run, a message reports how many posts moved, were skipped or failed.

How the best posting time is chosen is explained in Calendar & scheduling. Back to full calendar leaves focus mode. Picking a campaign in the Calendar's Campaign filter only hides other posts and does not offer these tools.

Campaign statuses

Status Meaning Actions on the campaign page
Draft Being planned. A campaign saved from a story plan starts here Activate, Archive
Active Running Stop, Complete
Stopped Ended early. Cannot be resumed Archive
Completed Finished Archive
Archived Put away Reactivate, which returns it to Draft

An active campaign is marked Completed once its end date has passed. Some older campaigns may show Paused; they can only be archived.

Stop asks you to confirm, then sets every post that has not been published back to draft and removes its account, so nothing publishes. Each post keeps its date. Posts already published or failed are left alone. A stopped campaign cannot be restarted: to use its posts again, reschedule them, pick the account, and send them through approval again, or start a new campaign.

Complete opens a summary of the campaign's posts. Any social post still in draft, scheduled or pending approval is marked as published without being sent to the platform, so it leaves your queues. Articles are not affected.

Delete removes the campaign. Its posts stay in your workspace, no longer linked to a campaign.

Credits

Building a campaign by hand, editing drafts and planning a story are free. You spend credits only when Convia writes posts for you, with Generate posts or a Magic Campaign. The cost grows with the number of platforms and articles. See AI credits.
