Website analytics shows what your posts do after the click: which posts send people to your own website, what those visitors do there, and what people search for to find you. Convia Pro reads Google Analytics (GA4), Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. It only reads them, and never changes anything in them.
Social analytics stop at the platform. Use website analytics when your goal is visits, sign-ups or search visibility for your own site.
What you need for website analytics
- A plan that includes Advanced Analytics and website analytics.
- A website you own. Your podcast host's pages cannot be connected. Shared platforms such as youtube.com, linkedin.com, linktr.ee or x.com are not accepted, and neither is a bare host such as substack.com, though your own subdomain, such as you.substack.com, is.
- A Google account that can see your GA4 property and your Search Console site. For Bing, an API key from Bing Webmaster Tools.
- An owner or manager role in the workspace.
Connect your website
- Go to Brand Brain → Voice & Tone and find the Your websites card. Add each website you own, such as
example.com: just the site, not a page or profile. Subdomains are included automatically. - Click Save Brand Settings at the bottom of the page.
- Open the launcher, go to Integrations → Website analytics (under Workspace) and click Connect with Google. Sign in with the Google account that can see your GA4 property and Search Console site, and tick every permission on Google's screen. If a permission is left unticked, Convia refuses the connection and you can try again. The card then shows Connected as your Google email.
- To add Bing (optional), go to Bing Webmaster Tools, then Settings, API access, and generate an API key. Paste it into the Bing Webmaster Tools card.
- Each connected card lists what that account can see, under Google Analytics 4 properties, Search Console sites and Bing Webmaster sites. Tick the ones for your websites and click Save selection. A property for a domain you have not listed is greyed out until you add the domain under Your websites.
- Under a GA4 property, tick the Key events to count as outcomes, such as a sign-up, a booking or a purchase. Only events marked as key events in Google Analytics appear. Without key events, the Web tab still shows visits, just not outcomes.
Each property shows Waiting on first sync until its first collection finishes, then the date it has been collected through.
Unticking a property stops collecting it and keeps everything already collected. Disconnect works the same way: new data stops and the history stays.
Tag links so visits are credited to posts
The Tag links to your websites switch sits in the Your websites card on Voice & Tone. When it is on, every link to one of your websites in a post Convia publishes gets tracking tags (UTM parameters), so Google Analytics can credit the visit to the exact post, platform and campaign that sent it. Saving your first website property turns it on, and you can turn it off at any time.
| Tag | Value |
|---|---|
utm_source |
The platform, such as linkedin, youtube, instagram, tiktok, threads, facebook, x or bluesky |
utm_medium |
social |
utm_campaign |
The post's campaign name, lowercase and hyphenated, or unassigned when it has no campaign |
utm_content |
A short identifier for the post |
How tagging behaves:
- Tags are added at the moment Convia publishes. The post text you see in the editor does not change.
- Links in the body, in the first comment and in an article's link are all tagged.
- Links to any other site are never changed, and a link that already carries its own tracking tags is left exactly as you wrote it.
- If adding tags would push a post past the platform's character limit, the post goes out untagged rather than being shortened.
Why a post shows no visits
A post can only show website visits when all of these are true:
- It was published after tagging was turned on. Posts published earlier went out without tags.
- It links to one of your websites. A post that links only to YouTube sends people to YouTube, not to your site, so it has nothing to credit.
- For YouTube, the video was uploaded after tagging was on. Tags are added when Convia uploads a video, so videos uploaded earlier keep their original links, even if they go public later.
Add branded search terms
Branded search terms are the names people type when they look for you: your show, your company, your hosts. Add them in the Your websites card. Convia suggests some from your workspace, hosts and brand.
A search counts as branded when it contains one of your terms, so:
- Add every spelling people use, such as both "mypodcast" and "my podcast".
- Be careful with very short or common names. If another company shares your name, searches for them count too, so prefer your full name ("Acme Studio" rather than "Acme").
- Changing the terms updates your history right away. No new collection is needed.
Read the Web tab
Open Analytics from the top of the launcher and choose the Web tab. Pick Last 28 days, Last 90 days or Last 12 months at the top right. Data through shows the last day collected.
From your Convia posts
| Measure | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sessions | Visits that came through tagged links in your posts |
| Engaged sessions | Visits Google Analytics counts as engaged: the visitor stayed at least 10 seconds, viewed a second page or completed a key event |
| Key events | The outcomes you picked, from those visits |
| Share of site traffic | Your posts' visits as a share of all visits to your site in the range |
Switch between Platform, Campaign and Post to see which channel, campaign or individual post sent the most.
Search
| Report | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Branded search | Weekly impressions for searches that include your names. The long-term sign that your content is building recognition |
| Near page one | Queries where one of your pages ranks 8 to 20 on average, just off the first page of results. Each has Create idea |
| Top queries by clicks | What people actually click through on |
Each published post's side panel and each campaign page also show a Website row with the visits and key events they sent.
Turn searches into posts
Near page one lists the cheapest wins in search. A new post, clip or article on exactly that topic, linking to the page that ranks, can help the page climb.
- Open Near page one and sort by impressions.
- Click Create idea on the two or three queries with the most impressions. Each idea arrives prefilled with the query and the page.
- Make something on exactly that topic, such as a clip, a post, an article or an episode segment, and link it to the page that ranks.
- Check Top queries by clicks for topics people already find you for, and build a series around the strongest one.
See Ideas and scripts for developing the ideas.
Grow traffic with a weekly routine
- Link to your site from the posts that should bring people there: an episode page, a newsletter sign-up, a booking page. Keep tagging on. Where your plan includes first comments, on platforms that support one, such as LinkedIn Company Pages, Facebook and Threads, a link in the first comment keeps the caption clean and is tagged too.
- Each week, open From your Convia posts by Platform to see which channel sends engaged visitors, then by Post to find the posts worth repeating or reposting. Watch Share of site traffic climb as you add links.
- Each week, use Create idea on the top Near page one queries.
- Month over month, watch Branded search. It moves slowly; a rise after a campaign, a guest appearance or a launch is the clearest sign your content is building a name people look up.
When website data arrives
| Source | Timing |
|---|---|
| Collection | Every hour |
| First collection | 90 days of Google Analytics and 16 months of search history, brought in over a few runs |
| Google Analytics | Runs through yesterday |
| Search Console | About three days behind |
| Bing | Updates about once a week. Bing reports queries without a page, so Bing rows have no page |
Until a property's first collection finishes, the Web tab and the Website rows say Waiting on first sync. Convia never shows a zero for data it has not collected yet.
Ask your AI assistant about your website
Assistants connected through Integrations → MCP Connections can ask for your website traffic and your search queries, including the near-page-one list, and get the same numbers as the Web tab. See MCP tools.
Troubleshooting website analytics
The card says Needs reconnect
Google or Bing stopped letting Convia read your data, for example because access was removed in your Google account. Managers get one notification and the Web tab shows a banner. For Google, click Reconnect with Google. For Bing, disconnect and paste a new key. Collection picks up where it stopped.
A property says the provider refused access
Your account lost access to that property in Google or Bing. Restore access there, then save the selection again. Your other properties keep collecting meanwhile.
A property is greyed out
Its domain is not in your list. Add the domain under Brand Brain → Voice & Tone → Your websites, save, and pick the property again.
No properties are listed
The Google account you connected cannot see any. Reconnect with the account that can.
The Web tab shows no visits from my posts
Check that Tag links to your websites is on, and that your recent posts link to your site rather than only to YouTube. The Search card and Share of site traffic fill in as soon as the first collection finishes, whatever your posts link to.
