Connect your AI accounts

Connect your own OpusClip, Descript, ElevenLabs or HeyGen account so Convia can use those tools, with the provider billing you directly.

Convia Pro can use your own accounts at OpusClip, Descript, ElevenLabs and HeyGen. You bring your own API key (often called BYOK), and the work runs on your provider account and is billed by the provider, not paid with Convia credits. Workspace owners and managers connect these accounts under Integrations, under Workspace in the launcher.

Providers you can connect

Provider What it does in Convia Where to connect it
OpusClip Generates short, vertical highlight clips from an episode, which you review inside Convia Integrations → OpusClip
Descript Sends an episode's recording to Descript's AI editor and brings the finished cut back as your final video. Also imports or creates clips from the episode's Descript project Integrations → Descript
ElevenLabs Generates AI voiceovers in the Content Lab Integrations → ElevenLabs
HeyGen Generates talking-avatar videos from a photo or avatar plus a script Integrations → HeyGen

Website analytics tools (Google Analytics, Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools) connect separately. See Website analytics.

What changes when you use your own key

  • The provider bills you. Clips, edits, voiceovers and avatar videos made with your key are billed by the provider to your account. With your own key, Convia doesn't resell provider credits.
  • No Convia credits are used for that work. Each provider card has a Manage credits at link to the provider's own billing page. One exception: having Convia draft a custom prompt for an OpusClip job is a Convia AI feature, so that step does use credits.
  • Convia's own AI features still use credits. Writing, image generation and the other features listed in AI & credits are paid from your AI credit balance.

Before you connect

  • Your plan must include the integration. On the current plans, using your own OpusClip and Descript keys is included on Professional and Business. ElevenLabs and HeyGen aren't listed on the pricing page, and because they're used in the Content Generation Lab, your plan also needs the Lab. If a provider doesn't appear under Integrations, your plan doesn't include it and you can't connect it. See Plans, trials & billing.
  • You need to be a workspace owner or manager.
  • Have your API key ready. Create or copy it in your account at the provider.

Connect a provider

  1. Open Integrations and pick the provider.
  2. Paste your key into the provider's API key field, for example OpusClip API key.
  3. Click Validate.
  4. Convia checks the key with the provider. When it's accepted, the card shows a Connected badge and, if the provider reports one, the plan your key belongs to.

From then on, the provider's features in Convia run against your account.

Connect OpusClip or Descript from an episode

You don't have to visit Integrations first. On an episode's Clips page, choose Add clips, then the OpusClip or Descript option. If your workspace hasn't added that provider's key yet, the menu asks for it right there and is ready to use as soon as the key is checked. For Descript, you then attach a Descript project to the episode. These options appear for workspace owners and managers.

Replace or disconnect a key

To disconnect a provider:

  1. Open the provider's page under Integrations.
  2. Click Disconnect and confirm.

Your key is removed from Convia, and new generations are blocked until you connect a key again. Work still running at the provider may not come back into Convia after you disconnect, so let running jobs finish first.

To replace a connected key, disconnect it first, then paste the new key and click Validate. If the card shows Invalid key or Not validated, there's nothing to disconnect: paste the new key and click Validate.

What the key badges mean

Badge Meaning
Connected The key was accepted when it was checked and is in use
Not validated The key hasn't been confirmed yet. Paste it again and click Validate
Invalid key The provider rejected the key when it was checked. Paste a new key and click Validate

If you revoke a key at the provider, the card can keep showing Connected while generations fail. Disconnect it and connect the new key.

How Convia protects your key

  • Your key is encrypted at rest.
  • It's decrypted only in memory, at the moment a generation needs it.
  • To change a saved key, you disconnect it and paste a new one.
  • Disconnecting removes the key from Convia.
  • Only workspace owners and managers can connect or disconnect a provider.

OpusClip: your own key or Managed Clipping

There are two ways to make clips with OpusClip in Convia:

  • Your own OpusClip key. Clips run on your OpusClip account and use no Convia credits.
  • The Managed Clipping add-on. Clips run on Convia's OpusClip account, with no OpusClip subscription or key of your own. The add-on is billed on your subscription, with its price shown before you buy, and each job is charged in AI credits based on the length of the source video. Buy it on the Billing page. See AI & credits for the credit cost.

If your plan doesn't include the OpusClip integration and you don't have Managed Clipping, OpusClip isn't listed under Integrations. You can also get Managed Clipping by choosing Create clips with OpusClip from an episode's Add clips menu. While Managed Clipping is active, the OpusClip page under Integrations shows a Managed badge and there's nothing to connect.

If you have both, your own key wins: connecting it switches the workspace to your OpusClip account and jobs stop costing AI credits. If you cancel Managed Clipping, jobs already running finish, and after the end of your billing period you need your own OpusClip key to create new clips.

Choose the AI text model (Enterprise)

On Enterprise plans, you can choose which AI model writes text for a workspace.

  1. Go to Settings → AI Settings.
  2. Under AI Model, pick Use platform default or a specific model.
  3. Click Save Settings.

With Use platform default, the workspace always follows the latest model Convia selects. A workspace pinned to a specific model keeps that model and doesn't follow later changes to the default. Enterprise isn't one of the plans on the pricing page. On Professional and Business, the page shows that AI Model Switching is available on Enterprise plans and the workspace uses the platform default. AI Settings isn't available on Creator.
