Content Automations draft posts for you in the background, so your channels have something ready to review without anyone starting from a blank page. Find them under In Motion → Content Automations in the Convia Pro launcher. No automation publishes on its own: a person approves or schedules every post an automation drafts.
Content Automations are for workspace owners and managers. They are plan-gated, so the page appears only if your plan includes them, and Autopilot is included separately from trend automations.
Choose a type of automation
Click New automation and pick one of two cards. The type cannot be changed later; a different type means a new automation.
| Fresh trends (trend automation) | Your clip library (Autopilot) | |
|---|---|---|
| What it drafts | One post a day from the freshest trend your feeds picked up | Clip posts that keep each channel's calendar filled for the days ahead |
| Source | RSS feeds you set up in In Motion → Trend Monitor → Feed Manager | Clips you have already made |
| Channels | One target channel | Any connected channels, each with its own posting days |
| When it runs | Once a day, at 00:00 UTC | Every night |
| Dates on drafts | None. You choose when each post goes out | Each draft is dated on one of your posting days |
| Lands as | Pending Approval, or a draft when set to the workspace default and your workspace does not require approval | Always Pending Approval |
| Cost | AI credits for the text, plus the image if you add one | About 5 credits per post, plus a base charge per fill |
Autopilot has its own page with every setting: see Clip Autopilot. The rest of this page covers trend automations and what both types share.
Set up a trend automation
Before you start, add at least one RSS feed in In Motion → Trend Monitor → Feed Manager and connect the social account the posts are for. See Trend Discovery.
- Go to In Motion → Content Automations and click New automation.
- Choose Fresh trends.
- Give it a Name.
- Under Trend feeds, tick the feeds it watches.
- Set Max posts per day.
- Pick the Target channel: the connected account the drafts are written for.
- Choose the Substance mode (see below).
- Optionally add Prompt guidance, such as "Sharp, skeptical take on AI news for busy founders. One clear insight per post", and a Tone, such as "punchy, wry".
- Optionally turn on Include an image and pick an Image type and an Image style.
- Choose the Approval setting.
- Leave Active (runs on schedule) on, then click Create automation. The automation appears in the list with Not run yet until its first run.
Trend automation settings and defaults
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Max posts per day | 1 | Caps how many drafts the automation creates in a day. The scheduled run drafts one post a day; the cap also covers drafts from Run now |
| Substance mode | Synthetic | How the automation decides whether to write (see below) |
| Prompt guidance | Blank | Your instructions for every post, used alongside your Brand Brain |
| Tone | Blank | A short tone note for every post |
| Include an image | Off | Adds a generated image to each draft |
| Image type | Graphic | Graphic, Infographic or Quote card |
| Approval | Always send to approval queue | Where the drafts land (see below) |
| Active (runs on schedule) | On | Switch off to pause the automation without deleting it |
Substance modes
- Synthetic (generate net-new from the trend) writes a new post from the trend itself and your brand voice. If the feeds you picked have nothing fresh, it can draft from the freshest trend in your workspace instead.
- Corpus-grounded (skip if the trend does not match your content) drafts only when the trend matches your own episodes, judged from the episodes matched to the trend or from your episode titles, descriptions and tags. A trend that matches none of them is skipped, and no post is created.
Use Corpus-grounded when every post must tie back to something you have said on the show.
Images on trend drafts
With Include an image on, each draft gets an image made by the Content Generation Lab, in the type and style you choose. This needs the Lab on your plan. If the Lab is unavailable, or the image fails, the post is still created as text only and the image credits are returned.
What a trend automation does each day
Once a day, at 00:00 UTC, each active trend automation:
- Checks that it is under its Max posts per day.
- Takes the freshest new trend alert from its feeds.
- Applies its substance mode. Corpus-grounded skips the trend if it matches none of your episodes.
- Writes the post for the target channel in your brand voice, with your prompt guidance and tone, keeping the caption within the platform's character limit.
- Adds the image, if you asked for one.
- Saves the post to the approval queue or as a draft, and marks the trend as used so it is not drafted again.
The draft carries no date. After it is approved, or if it lands as a draft, someone picks when it goes out.
Run a trend automation now
Click Run now on an automation to run it straight away instead of waiting for the daily run. The result tells you what happened:
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft created and sent to the approval queue | A post was drafted |
| No matching trend right now, so nothing was generated | There was no fresh trend, or Corpus-grounded found no match |
| Daily generation limit reached for this automation | Max posts per day has been reached today |
The automation's card also shows its latest outcome, such as Last run: created a draft, Last run: no matching trend, Last run: daily limit reached or Last run: not on your plan.
Nothing publishes on its own
Every automation leaves the last step to a person.
- Autopilot posts always land as Pending Approval, even if your workspace has approval switched off.
- Trend automation posts follow the Approval setting. Always send to approval queue puts every draft in the Approval Queue (Approvals at the bottom of the sidebar) as Pending Approval. Use workspace default leaves the post as a draft when your workspace does not require approval for social posts, and someone then schedules it.
In the approval queue, posts written by an automation show Automation as their author, with a robot icon. See Approval and review.
Trace what an automation made
Every post an automation creates is tagged with the automation that made it:
- A badge on the post in the Posts list, naming the automation, such as "Trend automation" or "Autopilot". Click it to open the automation.
- An Automation filter on the Posts list and on the Calendar, to see only what one automation made.
- A detail page: click Details on an automation to see its configuration, the posts it created and how they performed. Autopilot automations also show their recent runs.
- Analytics → By Automation, which compares your automations over any date range. See Analytics.
Credits for automations
A trend draft costs 10 credits for the text, plus the image if you add one: 20 for a graphic or infographic, 15 for a quote card. Max posts per day keeps the spend predictable. Credits are returned when a draft fails.
An Autopilot fill costs about 5 credits per post plus a base charge, and stops when your credits, your scheduled post queue or your monthly posts run out. See Clip Autopilot and AI credits.
Edit, pause or delete an automation
- Click the pencil icon on an automation to change its settings, then click Save changes.
- Use the switch on its card to move it between Active and Paused. A paused automation keeps its settings and stops running.
- Click the trash icon to delete it. This removes the automation, not any drafts it already created.
