Glossary

Definitions of the Convia terms customers and AI agents meet, from Brand Brain and beats to Autopilot, AI credits and MCP tokens, each linked to its page.

On this page

This glossary defines the terms you meet in Convia Pro and in the results of its MCP tools, in alphabetical order. Each entry links to the page that covers the feature in full. Where an MCP tool uses a different name for something, the entry says so.

Terms

@-mentions

Typing @ in the composer searches for a LinkedIn organization, an X (Twitter) account or a Bluesky account to tag, and the mention becomes a real link when the post publishes. Teammates can also @-mention each other in comments, which lands on their My Mentions page. Which mention types you can use depends on your plan. See Mentions & tagging.

Activity

The Activity tab in Integrations → MCP Connections (under Workspace in the launcher) lists every tool call an MCP client made in the workspace, with the token, the tool, the result and the latency. See MCP access, permissions & audit.

Advanced Analytics

A plan capability for detailed analytics. Website analytics and the MCP tools get_post_analytics, get_web_analytics and get_search_queries need it. See Plans & billing.

AI credits

AI features in Convia run on credits, and every AI action has a set cost. Credits refresh on the 1st of each month and roll over only on plans with rollover. MCP tools spend no credits, because the assistant writes the copy. See AI credits.

AI Prompts

Brand Brain → AI Prompts holds the workspace's custom prompt templates for long-form generators such as articles and scripts, and its saved thumbnail styles. A content type can have several named versions, and only the default one is used for generation. See How AI uses your brand.

Approval queue

The Approval Queue is where managers review content before it goes live, once a manager turns on Require approval for social posts in Settings → Publishing. Managers can Approve or Return each item; anyone can flag a post with Flag / Report problem in its More actions menu. See Approval & review.

Article

Long-form written content such as show notes, blog posts, newsletters and LinkedIn articles. Articles move through Draft, Pending Approval, Approved and Published, and approving one does not publish it: Mark as Published is a separate step. See Articles.

Auto First Comment

Schedules an automatic first comment on LinkedIn Company Page, X, Bluesky, Threads, Facebook and Instagram posts, posted up to a minute after the post publishes. Whether it is available depends on your plan. See Posts.

Autopilot

A content automation that keeps your calendar topped up from clips you have already made. Each night it fills only the gap between your calendar and the days you chose, and its posts land as Pending Approval. See Clip Autopilot.

Back catalog import

RSS Import pulls your existing podcast episodes into Convia from your show's RSS feed, as drafts, so you can start repurposing them. It is available on plans that include historical import. See Import your back catalog.

Beat

One post's place in a campaign's story: what it needs to say, on which platform and when. Every beat is checked against what you already have, and a pinned beat comes back word for word when you re-plan. See Magic Campaign.

Brand Brain

Convia's understanding of your show, your voice and your audience, set up under Brand Brain in the launcher. Every AI feature reads it, and so does any agent that calls get_brand_context. See Brand Brain.

Branded search terms

The names people type when they look for you, added in your website analytics settings. A search counts as branded when it contains one of your terms. See Website analytics.

BYOK

Bring your own key: connect your own OpusClip, Descript, ElevenLabs or HeyGen account so those generations run against your provider account instead of Convia credits. The Managed Clipping add-on is the exception and is charged in Convia credits. See Connect your AI accounts.

Campaign

A coordinated set of posts around a theme, episode or event, told across several platforms over a period of time. Campaign types are Promote a Specific Idea, Capitalize on a Trend, Seasonal/Recurring Theme and Guest/Partnership Spotlight, and a campaign does not need an episode. See Campaigns.

Campaign status

A campaign is Draft while it is being planned and Active while it runs, and the status filter also offers Paused, Stopped, Completed and Archived. A campaign created through MCP stays Draft until a person activates it. See Campaigns.

Client Portal

A branded portal where the people whose shows you produce log in to see finished episodes, leave comments and submit new recordings. Set it up in Settings → Client Portal, on plans that include it. See Client Portal.

Clip

A short-form excerpt from an episode, made for social media. Clips appear on their episode's Clips page and in the Clips Library, which shows each clip's parent episode and the posts made from it. See Episodes & clips.

Clip imports

Bring clips in from OpusClip, reviewing or editing each before import, or from Descript, using compositions from the episode's Descript project or clips made by Descript's agent. Start from an episode's Clips → Add clips menu; owners and managers only. See Clip imports.

Content Automation

Automations under In Motion → Content Automations that write draft posts in the background and drop them into your approval queue. A trend automation drafts a post a day from the freshest trend your feeds picked up; Autopilot fills your calendar from clips. See Content automations.

Content Created

The list on an idea of everything made from it, such as posts, articles, scripts and campaigns. Through MCP, get_idea and get_derived return the same links. See Ideas & scripts.

Content Lab

In Motion → Content Lab, called Content Generation Lab in Help, is the media studio for generating images, voiceovers and talking-avatar videos, all saved to one asset library. Voiceovers and avatars run on your own connected accounts. See Content Generation Lab.

Declutter

A calendar tool that previews every move before changing anything, with two modes: Spread out and Keep breathing room. Posts you made by hand, campaign posts, full episodes and anything in the next 24 hours stay where they are. See Calendar & scheduling.

Default posting times

A grid in Settings → Publishing of posting times per platform and weekday. When a post gets a date without a time, Convia uses your default time, then the platform's best hour, then the start of your posting window, and MCP tools do the same for a bare date. See Calendar & scheduling.

Episode

Your source content, such as a podcast, video or webinar, and the foundation everything else is built from. Some MCP fields still use the older name, webcast, as in parent_webcast_id. See Episodes & clips.

Feed Manager

Feed Manager, inside Trend Monitor under In Motion, holds the RSS feeds Convia watches for fresh outside material, which feed Trend Monitor and trend automations. It is part of Trend Rider. See Trend discovery.

Flag

Flag / Report problem, in a post's More actions menu, lets anyone on the team send a post to the approval queue with a note and a Flagged badge, for a manager's attention. It is different from a held campaign post, which is flagged because it needs an asset. See Approval & review.

Gap

A campaign post that still needs an asset Convia does not have, such as a clip or a graphic. It shows Held · needs asset with a brief that says what to make, and an agent creates one by setting needed_asset in create_campaign_from_plan. See Magic Campaign.

Guest

A person who appeared on your show, with a profile in Convia that can be invited into the Guest Portal. A guest who asks for their data to be removed is never returned by MCP tools. See Guest Portal.

Guest Portal

A secure space where invited guests view the episodes they appear in, download media, update their profile and see their episode's analytics. Invites go out by email with a link that expires after 30 days. See Guest Portal.

Guest Spotlight

The Guest/Partnership Spotlight campaign type promotes an episode featuring a guest; the campaign builder suggests 10 days. Its posts introduce the guest and can be shared so everyone posts on publish day. See Promote with your guest.

Idea

An entry in your content backlog under In Motion → Ideas, moving through New, Researching, Ready, In Progress and Completed, or Archived when dropped. An idea can become a script, post or article. See Ideas & scripts.

Internal name and published title

Every post has an Internal name, seen only inside Convia, and a Published title, the public title YouTube and Facebook show on a video. If the published title is blank, the internal name is published. MCP tools call these title and published_title. See Posts.

Tag links to your websites adds tracking tags to links to your own sites when Convia publishes a post, so a visit is credited to the post that sent it. See Website analytics.

Magic Campaign

Drafts a full campaign from an episode, for the type, platforms and date range you pick, for you to review. Its planner lays out beats you can pin and re-plan, and the MCP campaign plan tools need it on your plan. See Magic Campaign.

Magic Repurpose

Turns one episode into a full content package in one click: transcript, chapter markers, insights, YouTube titles, descriptions and a promotional campaign. Everything it makes lands as drafts. See Magic Repurpose.

Managed account

A parent account through which an agency manages several shows' workspaces, with one contract and shared billing. Convia sets managed accounts up. See Agencies & managed accounts.

MCP

Model Context Protocol, an open protocol that lets AI assistants such as Claude use tools provided by other software. Convia's MCP server gives an assistant 38 tools scoped to one workspace. See Convia for AI agents.

MCP Connections

The page at Integrations → MCP Connections where Owners and Managers connect Claude and other AI clients to a workspace, with tokens, setup instructions, the tool list and the Activity log. It needs a plan that includes MCP Connections. See Connect an AI assistant (MCP).

MCP token

A secret starting mcp_live_ that lets a client such as Claude Code act in one workspace as the person who created it. It is shown once, stored only as a hash, and can be revoked at any time. See MCP access, permissions & audit.

Post

Social media content for LinkedIn, X and other platforms, ready for publishing. Post types include social posts and promotion posts. See Posts.

Post status

The app shows Draft, Pending Approval, Approved, Scheduled, Published and Failed. MCP tools use draft, pending_approval, approved, scheduled, published and failed, plus archived (set aside), processing (being published right now) and in_review (a pre-publish review state). See Posts.

Posting window

The earliest and latest times you are willing to publish, set in Settings → Publishing, 07:00 to 19:00 by default. The window is advice, not a rule. See Calendar & scheduling.

Roles

A workspace has four roles: Owner (everything, including billing and deleting the workspace), Manager (create, edit, approve and publish content, manage the team), Contributor (create and edit content, submit it for approval; previously called Member) and Viewer (read-only). Only Owners and Managers can use MCP Connections. See Workspaces & teams.

Script

A plan for content before you record it, under In Motion → Scripts, of type Video, Podcast, Short or Presentation. Scripts get an automatic word count and duration estimate. See Ideas & scripts.

Show Details

Brand Brain → Show Details holds your show's name, description and artwork. See Brand Brain.

Social Platform Prompts

Brand Brain → Social Platform Prompts holds one prompt per platform that shapes the AI-written copy for that platform. MCP tools can read these prompts but not change them. See How AI uses your brand.

Speaker mapping

Naming the speakers Convia detected in a transcript by matching each one to a host or guest, with Identify speakers on the episode's Transcript page. Until a speaker is confirmed, MCP tools return their lines without a name. See Episodes & clips.

Spine

The core of a campaign plan: its Through line, the one argument the campaign makes, and its Authority objective, the authority it earns you. The Magic Campaign plan review shows both, and agents supply both to create_campaign_from_plan. See Magic Campaign.

Spread out

A Declutter mode that spaces out clips on the calendar for one platform, moving only the kinds of clip you allow: bulk scheduled, Autopilot, or scheduled from a connected AI app. Clips on the same day are staggered 15 minutes apart. See Calendar & scheduling.

Tags and hashtags

Tags are internal topic labels that organize your content and make it findable; hashtags are published words in a post's copy. Tag groups bundle tags for reuse and are rendered as hashtags when inserted into body copy. See Mentions & tagging.

Text provenance

A field on clips in MCP results that says where a clip's title and description came from: generated, imported or unknown. Either way, clip text is a summary, not something a person said. See MCP tool reference.

Text Snippets

Reusable blocks of text, such as a standard call to action or outro, shared with the whole workspace and inserted from the composer. Agents read them with get_text_snippets and reproduce them exactly. See Posts.

Thumbnail Studio

Generates AI thumbnails for an episode: open the episode, go to Images and click Open Thumbnail Studio. A style sets the look, and saved styles live in Brand Brain → AI Prompts → Thumbnail Styles. See Thumbnails.

Transcript

The full text of an episode, on the episode's Transcript page, with speakers once they are detected. Agents read it with get_transcript and check claims against it with search_content. See Episodes & clips.

Trash

Where deleted items go. You can restore an item from Trash, and items are permanently deleted after 30 days. Posts an agent deletes through MCP land here too. See Posts.

Trend Monitor

In Motion → Trend Monitor finds what is trending in your industry. Results appear as Trend Alerts with a relevance score, time sensitivity and source, and you can turn them into ideas, scripts or campaigns. See Trend discovery.

Trend Rider

The plan feature that includes Trend Monitor and Feed Manager. It is included only on some plans. See Plans & billing.

Trial reel

An Instagram reel shown first to people who do not follow you. Instagram requires around 1,000 followers, otherwise the reel publishes as normal; agents set it with trial_reel in platform_options. See Publishing to platforms.

Voice & Tone

Brand Brain → Voice & Tone sets your brand characteristics, Audience Profile and content rules, which the AI follows when it writes. See Brand Brain.

Webcast

The older name for an episode, still used in some MCP fields such as parent_webcast_id and linked_webcast_id. See Episodes & clips.

Website analytics

Shows what your posts do after the click, by reading your Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools data without changing anything in them. Results appear on the Web tab of Analytics, and it needs Advanced Analytics. See Website analytics.

Workspace

A separate space for one show, brand or client, with its own content, settings and team. An MCP connection reaches exactly one workspace. See Workspaces & teams.
